Human Sundial

Here is a picture that we took in Richmond when we went to visit Wil before he left for Iraq.  This is the most unique sundial that I have ever seen.  You stand on a block that indicates the month you are presently in and the shadow you cast tells you the time.

Linvilla Orchards

Recently Billy, Jenn and I took a trip over the Linvilla Orchards and had an absolutely wonderful time.  I don't know why but the hot dog and hamburgers that we got were the best I have ever tasted and the fresh french fries were unbelievable.  Billy had a great time playing on their play ground and picking out a pumpkin.  He also had a good time running through the corn maze.

We are looking forward to the conclusion of the World Series tonight and I am glad that Billy will be able to see the final few innings of the game at a somewhat reasonable time.  We are also looking forward to Halloween and another great fall weekend.

Sickness in Glassboro

Today we were planning on going to the shore following Billy's soccer game, but midway through the game, Billy came off the field crying.  He told me he wasn't feeling well so we came home.  He immediately went to bed and has been in a funk all day.  He is running a fever, but other than the fever and the tiredness, he hasn't been able to give us a single body part that hurts.

Hopefully, a good nights sleep will put him back on track to his normal self.

Ocean City

Sunday we went down to Ocean City for the day.  I was feeling very guilty for having gone two straight years without getting Billy to the Ocean.  We had done the boardwalk a few times, but he hasn't played in the sand or gone in the ocean since he was 2 going onto 3.

I thought it was going to be cold down there and that all we would be able to do was play in the sand, so we didn't wear our bathing suits and we didn't have on shorts.  We got out of the car in our jeans and sweatshirt only to find that the weather was quite nice.  We were pretty out of place going in the ocean in our regular street clothes, but we had lots of fun.  

Hopefully, we will get one more warm weekend day where we can find time to get down there again.

Washer and Soccer

Yesterday we went to Best Buy to buy a washer.  This is probably the first major appliance that I did not buy at Sears.  Hopefully we get better service.

Today was Billy's first day of town soccer and I was so impressed with all the people running the soccer.  After seeing how "good" the Y-MCA, Rowan and the County ran other programs that Billy has been a part of, I had very little hope for the Boro's soccer organization.  Boy was I wrong, they were great.  They had two kids per coach and all the kids got wonderful individual attention.  Billy had a great time and never had a chance to lose focus 

Washer Repairman

The washer repairman came yesterday and told us that it would cost so much to fix the washer that we were better off replacing it.  For that wonderful piece of advice Sears charged us $80.25.

I protested to him that the washer was less than 7 years old and he said that that model was a lemon and many of the owners of the model have gotten together and done a class action suit against Sears.  So Billy and I got to spend another afternoon/evening at the Laundromat washing and drying clothes.

Living Without Cable

The great experiment to find out if a modern family could live without cable, satellite or fiber optic tv took a big step forward yesterday as NBC introduced a new over the air channel called Universal Sport. This 24 sports network that caters to Olympic type sports will make living without cable so much easier.  Now any time of the day or night there will be at least one mindless, tolerable viewing option.
